Customisable Credit Cards

As something often used on a daily basis, a credit card can be a very personal object to carry around.

Instead of the same, uniform card for everyone, some credit card providers have options to make them more customised to the cardholder. Here are three of the most commonly offered features that can help make your card go from boring to bright.

Changing Colours

The most common feature to help personalise a credit card is the option to choose its colour. These kinds of credit cards will usually give you an option on the credit application and a choice of a few different colours.

Credit cards currently offering different colours include:

Changing Designs

Some credit cards will also come with a variety of designs that you can choose from, like the four options that come with Bank of Queensland’s Low Rate card – water, ribbon, swirl or fish.

ANZ also has a range of images that you can access for your credit card on their Design My Card website, which is available for current and new cardholders with a First credit card, a Low Rate card or a Balance MasterCard.

Their image library contains 15 different categories to choose from including popular, texture, travel, sport, Australia and animals.

Choosing A Photo Or Image

Many credit card providers now give customers the option of choosing a their own image for the background of the card.

This option allows you to see your family, friends, favourite landscape or memory every time you get out your card and make it stand out from all the rest.

Again, ANZ’s Design My Card option is a standout in this area, encouraging existing and new cardholders to take advantage of their personalisation options.

Images are subject to approval and will not be accepted if they are trademarked or have logos on them, but otherwise you are free to upload what ever you want. You can optimise any photo for Design My Card by using the following steps:

  1. Check the dimensions of the image
  2. Use a basic image editing program to make the dimensions 480 x 480 pixels
  3. Make sure the image is saved with one of these file extensions: jpeg, jpg, bmp, gif or tiff (most of the time it will be jpg or gif anyway)

There is also a basic preview and editor option on the website to help you see what the card will look like.

Customising your credit card is a great way to make it stand out in your wallet and create a more individual experience. With these options, you can like what you see every time.
